The BLK ProjeK is looking for a few good interns.
We have recently been nominated for an Union Square award and Executive Director, Tanya Fields has attracted considerable local, national and international media attention for her work. We are looking for fun, energetic, passionate & COMMITTED interns to help us build capacity and stabilize programming. This is real WORK experience, no fetching coffee or merely pushing papers.
Programming Intern- Primary responsibilities - coordinating logistics for existing TBP programs. Identifying needs for new programming. Coordinating outreach and materials. Identifying relevant program partners & alliances. Managing outreach volunteers and coordinating distribution of outreach materials. Strategizing, coordinating and implementing new programming based on community needs. Help coordinate upcoming programs such as Earth Day Block Party and Grub Dinners
Research Intern (2) Primary responsibilities - work with executive director to identify research needs, most immediate needs: neighborhood needs assessment, information on local and international cooperatives. Collate, quantify & organize information. Work with development intern to research TBP’s cooperative food truck business
Development Intern Primary responsibilities - creating donor database, identifying appropriate low cost donor management solution. Prioritizing funding opportunities and deadlines. Initial contact with potential funders, requesting informational meetings. Some opportunities to grant write and travel with executive director to possible funding meetings. Help to coordinate upcoming fundraising events such as The BLK Party and Funders Cocktail Party.
Digital & Social Media Intern (2) Primary responsibilities - documenting community meetings, events and actions. Interviewing community residents, community leaders & elected officials and coordinating video short to increase organizational visibility as well as use as tool for funders. Help video go viral. Also oversee, manage and streamline existing social media presence (Facebook, Blogs, Twitter)
Must in last year of undergraduate or in graduate program. Must need college credit. Must be able to work 15-20 hours weekly and be able to travel to the South Bronx once a week for team meetings (Metrocards and lunch will be provided). Most work can be done remotely. Must be technologically savvy able to use webcam, email, google apps etc Must have a great sense of humor and be passionate about social justice Women, people of color, LGBTQ and students attending City Colleges encouraged to apply
