THE SOUTH BRONX MOBILE MARKET
Launching in mid-June 2013 The South Bronx Mobile Market - a former school bus running on used veggie oil, will provide local, mostly organic produce to South Bronx Communities. This project will also be used as a springboard for workforce development, job creation and to support local urban and rural growers. The BLK ProjeK is forging relationships with Sustainable South Bronx, Corbin Hill Farm and Wholeshare to gauge and encourage partnerships that will make The South Bronx Mobile Market a grassroots, inclusive endeavor. The communities the mobile market will concentrate on initially will be Mott Haven, Hunts Point/Longwood and Grand Concourse/Highbridge.
We have received initial funding from Jesse Noyes Foundation, Claneil Foundation, individual donors and we are currently running an Indie GoGo campaign to raise $15,000 to meet our launch goal. You can donate here and check back often or join our mailing list to get updates and breaking news on our mobile market.
Bronx Grub Meal Series
Bronx Grub is our quarterly meal series which serves to bring community together for a sustainable low-cost/free meal and serve as a vehicle for base-building and civic engagement. Our locations have included community rooms in local buildings, the Osborne Association, Mothers on the Move and the BMW Guggenheim Lab feeding over 100 community residents.

Libertad Urban Farm Proposal
Starting out as guerrilla gardening of underdeveloped properties in the Longwood area of the Bronx and resulting in community organizing around a permanent place for Libertad Urban Farm. After the fallout from an unsuccessful takeover of a 26 year old vacant lot the BLK Projek is working with local councilwoman to bring this proposal to life. With the support of community residents and organizations such as Sustainable South Bronx we have identified a piece of city owned property and hope to reclaim it this summer.
